“My goal is not to keep you coming but to empower you. Our work together is a partnership where we create client-led goals and problem-solve ways to achieve them.”

Rumi T Krzywicki

FOUNDER and Calgary pelvic floor PHYSIOtherapist

Rumi Krzywicki is a Calgary Pelvic Floor Physiotherapist and has been treating pelvic floor conditions for 14+ years.

Rumi began her career in sports medicine physiotherapy treating adults and children. By combining her pelvic floor physiotherapy skills with conventional manual therapy, she was able to achieve better patient outcomes for her patients.

After the difficult birth of her first child, her healing was augmented with a biopsychosocial lens and this “whole person” framework sparked the foundation for what is now her Calgary pelvic floor physiotherapy practice - Resilience Pelvic Health.

Rumi now practices women’s pelvic floor physiotherapy exclusively. She is experienced working with women of all ages and has additional training and interest in the following areas:

- pregnancy and postpartum
- persistent pain
- cognitive behavioural training
- overactive bladder
- gynecological cancerS

A true lifelong learner, Rumi is pelvic floor physiotherapist that continually pursues evidence-based post-graduate courses to further her education and serve her clients better.

+ Rumi's Pelvic Floor Story

"As a Calgary pelvic floor physiotherapist I had done everything possible to have an optimal pregnancy and labour. After the vaginal birth of my first child I had severe vaginal tearing, loss of bowel control and experienced back and pelvic floor pain. These symptoms were the result of unpredictable factors during birth. It was difficult to move, sit and even walk.

This is not how I imagined postpartum would be.

Postpartum was difficult. My focus was entirely on my baby and I was just surviving through each day. 10 days postpartum I started pelvic floor physiotherapy and my symptoms improved but the pain still lingered. As a “do-er” I began working out harder, going for more appointments and trying to do more for my pelvic floor but I wasn't getting better.

15 months later this “go-getter” attitude started to have a toll on me as I started to have some health problems, increased pelvic pain, suffered a miscarriage and I had to take a medical leave from work. I felt strong mentally but my body was telling me otherwise.

I had crashed.

My healing began when I took a biopsychosocial apporach to my health. I learned more about pain neuroscience, connected with a psychologist, improved the relationships in my life, received help and nurtured my central nervous system. The physical health is interconnected with our mind, emotions, spirituality and sexuality.

With these daily practices I healed.

I became more resilient.

I had two more successful vaginal births.

Through my experience I was able to build resilience, but together with your stories we are The Resilience Movement.

You are not alone. There is help."

At Resilience Pelvic Health the pelvic floor physiothearpists treat each patient from a biopsychosocial lens. Not only do we look at where the symptoms hurt in the body, but we also take a whole person approach and assess how the emotional, mental, social and behavioral parts may be contributing to symptoms. Pelvic floor physiotherapists commonly work as part of a team with your family doctor and/or medical specialists’, to achieve optimal physical well-being.
